Yet another option…

We drove up to Maryland on Saturday to check out a college and the surrounding area to see if we’d like it up there. It was like another world. Lots of hills and land. We were thinking the cost of living would be much cheaper there than it is in Alexandria (where we’d live if I attend Gallaudet). It was nice there but I was pretty sure there wouldn’t be a montessori school for the kids and there definitely isn’t any computer jobs in that town. After our look around we drove to Alexandria to have lunch and hang out with Bryan’s cousins and family. Bryan’s cousin lives in a sweet, 3-story townhouse. Similiar to what I’ve been looking at online. We spent the 2.5 hours on the road home talking about the pros and cons to both areas (MD and NoVA). The program in MD is exactly what I want and there is a new housing development not far from the college. However, with no school for the kids and no job for Bryan that idea is basically out the window. Also it’s a good 4+ hour drive from here. The program in DC is 2nd choice. Bryan can definitely find a job there and I have already found the school the kids would attend. The cost of housing is outrageous but there are possibilities and it’s only a 3 hour drive from here and only 30 minutes from Potomac Mills! Wink

So, yesterday I spent some time searching for Montessori schools near the college. There is one 3 miles away! I couldn’t believe it! Then, I searched for jobs for Bryan. I was right, no computer jobs in that area, but there are quite a few in Baltimore and Frederick. So now…I’m thinking we can buy a house in that new housing development being built smack in between the Montessori school and the college! Grin

I will be applying to both schools. We’ll see what happens. It’s nice to know that we have a plan that will work with either school/location.
