South Beach Round 2

Well, my first round of South Beach dieting wasn’t too successful. The first two weeks of extremely low carb intake is tough. I did fine for about a week, generally keeping my carb count under 30g per day, but once the weekend rolled around I had some problems. Next thing I know it’s the 4th of July and there are picnics and cookouts all over the place.

About a month later and I’m no worse off, but no better off than I was in June. I weigh about 148 pounds, which is 10 pounds less than my starting weight on May 1st, and I’m at about 13% body fat. With summer rapidly coming to a close however, I’m eager to try to take a few more pounds off and get my body fat down to 8% or so. One problem I’ve got is that we’ll be doing a lot of travelling over the next 3 weeks. We’re heading out of town to attend the Porc Fest in New Hampshire this weekend, and then we’re probably going to Atlanta the 2nd week of August. It’s much tougher to stick to a diet while you’re on travel, but I’m going to give it my best shot. I’m not going to go back on South Beach, but I’m going to do what I did in May, which is to basically cut calories, eliminate sweets, cut bad carbs, and lower fat intake. This, in combination with some increased aerobics work will hopefully get me down toward 144 pounds and 10% body fat by August 13th (the date of a church pool party where you may be able to get a shirtless glimpse of yours truly).

I’m going to continue to use Fitday to track my calories and such. Here’s my Fitday Log. Stay tuned for more info.
