Jaron and Ava said a couple of cute things recently that I though were worth writing down. Unfortunately, I wasn’t there for either of them, so this is a 2nd hand recounting. It really is neat to see the world through your kids’ eyes. They have a totally different perspective on technology, and on what’s important.
Jaron, our 7 year old son, started up a conversation with my wife the other day. He wanted to know if she’d ever used “one of those things where the paper comes out.”
Lianne, trying to figure out what he was talking about, “You mean like a printer or copier?”
Jaron, “No, you push the letters on it and the paper comes out.”
Lianne, “Oh, you mean a typewriter?”
Jaron, “Yeah, have you ever seen one of those?” 🙂
At this point Lianne, suddenly feeling kinda old, explains how we used them to type up papers and stuff for school. Jaron wants to know if we still have one; which we don’t. This seemed to upset him a little bit, “Awe, will I EVER get to see one?”
Ava, our 3 year old daughter, while leaving her grandparents house the other day, wanted to take a princess coloring book with her back to our house. She asked Grandma if she could “borrow” it, but Grandma thought she said “buy”.
Grandma, “You want to buy the coloring book?”
Ava nods her head, “Yes.”
Grandma, “Well, how much do you want to spend?”
Ava, “I want to spend the night.” 🙂
